However, by integrating markets and creating competition in private sector, globalization decreases the presence of government in the economy. In this paper, under the theoretical framework of compensatory and efficiency hypotheses, the relationship between government size and economic openness in the long- and short-term is investigated for select member countries of Organization of Islamic Cooperation for period 1998-2015. The designed model is estimated by using vector autoregressive  (VAR) and the two-stage least squares (2SLS) methods. The results of vector error correction model (VECM) estimation show that in short run, government size, population and financial openness influence government size. In the long run, urbanization and population variables have the greatest impact on government size. The effect of financial openness on government size in the long run is decreasing, but the effect of the trade openness is increasing. The results of 2SLS estimation also show that the effect of efficiency hypothesis on the size of the government cannot outweight the incremental effect of the compensatory hypothesis and, as a result, with increasing economic openness in these countries, government size has become larger.}, keywords = {Trade Openness,Financial Openness,Government Size,Compensatory and Efficiency Hypotheses}, title_fa = {بررسی تطبیقی اثر کارایی و جبرانی باز بودن اقتصاد بر اندازه دولت در کشورهای عضو سازمان کنفرانس اسلامی}, abstract_fa = {جهانی شدن و به دنبال آن بازشدن اقتصادها از یک طرف با افزایش ریسک های خارجی، حضور و دخالت دولت‌ها را جهت حمایت از اقتصاد داخلی افزایش داده‌اند و از طرف دیگر، با ادغام بیشتر بازارها در سطح جهانی و تقویت و ایجاد رقابت در بخش خصوصی، زمینه حضور دولت در اقتصاد را کمرنگ‌تر می‌سازد. در این مقاله، رابطه بین اندازه دولت و باز بودن اقتصاد در کشورهای منتخب عضو سازمان کنفرانس اسلامی (1998-2015)، تحت چارچوب نظری فرضیه‌های جبرانی و کارایی در بلندمدت و کوتاه‌مدت مورد بررسی قرار گرفته است. الگوی طراحی شده، جهت حصول اطمینان از صحت نتایج یک بار با استفاده از روش خودرگرسیون برداری در بلندمدت و الگوی تصحیح خطای برداری در کوتاه‌مدت و بار دیگر با روش متغیرهای ابزاری و حداقل مربعات دو مرحله‌ای 2SLS در داده‌های تابلویی برآورد شده است. نتایج برآورد مدل به روش خود رگرسیون برداری نشان داد در کوتاه‌مدت اندازه دولت، جمعیت و باز بودن مالی بر اندازه دولت تاثیرگذارند. در بلندمدت نیز متغیرهای شهری شدن و جمعیت به ترتیب بیشترین تاثیر را بر اندازه دولت دارند. اثر باز بودن مالی بر اندازه دولت در بلندمدت کاهشی، اما اثر باز بودن تجاری افزایشی است. نتایج حاصل از برآورد الگو به روش 2SLS  نیز نشان داد اثر باز بودن مالی بر اندازه دولت تاییدکننده فرضیه کارایی است،  اما اثر افزایشی باز بودن تجاری بر اندازه دولت، فرضیه جبرانی را تاییدمی‌کند.}, keywords_fa = {باز بودن تجاری,باز بودن مالی,اندازه دولت,فرضیه کارایی و فرضیه جبرانی}, url = {https://joer.atu.ac.ir/article_9563.html}, eprint = {https://joer.atu.ac.ir/article_9563_47331d3a8199868339f6e5ede48cf1aa.pdf} }
